Part of the Flying Squirrel Community Space's Stop Mass Incarceration programming...

Name: Vulnerable Populations/Critical Populations: The criminalization of poverty, homelessness, and dissent
Date: Saturday, October 18, 2014
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: Flying Squirrel Community Space, 285 Clarissa St.

facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1537528943128718/

Description: Sister Grace Miller of House of Mercy will give a presentation on the criminalization of homelessness and poverty. She will present on her lived experience and the barriers to survival that people she works with face everyday.

Anti-war activist and professor Harry Murray will go into depth about the use of orders of protection against anti-war and anti-drone protesters demonstrating in front of air bases utilizing their Constitutional rights. In a bizarre twist, courts have allowed base commanders who don't want demonstrators in front of their bases to use orders of protection that came out of the anti-domestic violence movement to be used against demonstrators who have never interacted with let alone met these base commanders.

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
