FERGUSON TO ROCHESTER / FROM RAGE TO ORGANIZING

December 15, 6:30pm

Inner Faith Gospel Tabernacle

32 York St.

Rochester, NY

United Christian Leadership Ministry (UCLM) and the Rochester Coalition For Police Reform (CPR) are advancing a 5-point Community Safety Agenda (see below).

1). Body Cameras for the RPD

2) An Independent Civilian review Board with subpoena power and investigative authority

3). Anti-Racism Training for all officers at the Academy

4). An end to racial profiling (Stop and Frisk)

5). Right to Consent to Search

This is the Agenda that UCLM, the Coalition for Police Reform, Enough is Enough, the Genesee Valley NYCLU, Take Back the Land and others have been working on. These are real, concrete issues that we can struggle around --- in the process of building an ongoing movement, which is what's really needed.

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
