Seed Camp for Direct Democracy report back
Primary tabs
While liberals and conservatives gathered, partied, or prayed for a desirable outcome to the election--that is, the determination of who would rule them for the next four years--a group of activists gathered for a different purpose. If the people demand change, then change they will have, this group proclaimed. Their banner, facing the Clinton Avenue entrance to the city, proudly read: Seed Camp for Direct Democracy.
The night consisted of reflections, shenanigans, and determinations for the next four years of resistance, along with a reclamation of public space. Food was served, tents were pitched, and "hope" was debated. All in all, at least three activists spent the night under the stars undisturbed by local authorities. While individual experiences varied, those who attended the encampment/gathering will certainly remember where and with whom they were on election night of 2008.
I encourage any and all who witnessed this historical "moment"--especially those who were not at this encampment--to share their experience in response to this post.
